Discharge Reactors are used in Reactive Power Compensation/ Power Factor Correction Panels in Parallel with Capacitors to discharge them when power is switched off. Discharge reactors are more efficient then Resistors as they consume less power when the capacitors are on. The only drawback is that Reactors can't withstand DC if one of the Thyristors used for switching the Capacitors Fail. Wings manufactures multiple models to suit the KVAR rating of capacitors.
